1.Animal systematics and radiation. We aim to reconstruct evolutionary history of major lineages of vertebrates, and to reveal the molecular mechanism of speciation.

2.Animal adaptation and lifespan control. We want to answer how aging evolved by studying cross-talk between genetic adaptations and lifespan-control in mammals.

3.Biology of high-risk animals responsible for zoonotic epidemics. Study of animals that host potential infectious diseases would allow the prevention of zoonotic epidemics and ensure public health.
